Can we be honest? LeBron James is a freak. He is a once in a lifetime athlete who happens to play basketball, but could play any sport on the planet. He is 6’8″ and weighs 275 pounds. Let that sink in…he is taller than your door, as big as a defensive lineman, and can do this:
He jumped over John Lucas III. Lucas looks small on an NBA court, but he is actually 5’11 and taller than the average American man. LeBron is a freak. He is also Living His List. He has millions of dollars. He has a private jet. He can enter any club, restaurant, bar, or store and people will literally pay for his bill. He met President Obama and actually called him “coach,” and he has visited countries all over the world. If he has a bucket list (which he probably does), he is checking buckets off of the list right and left.
When I travel around and tell people to “Live Your List,” people look at me like I am crazy. They think you have to be LeBron James to live that awesome of a life. I have found time and time again that this isn’t the case. I know I will never be 6’8″ and be able to jump over a Volkswagen van. I know I will never be the NBA MVP, but those things aren’t on my list anyways (OK, maybe it would be awesome to jump over a van).
Could I meet the President someday? Sure! Would I call him coach? Depends. I could even win a NBA ring (as a support staff in some capacity). LeBron isn’t the only person on the planet that gets to live an amazing life! You can travel the world, learn new things, experience new cultures, and achieve huge dreams. You will do great things, not because you are special like LeBron, but because you made a conscious decision to live an inspired life.
I think that is the biggest misconception about the Live Your List philosophy. People assume you must be rich, super intelligent, freakishly talented, or 100% carefree to Live Your List. All it takes is an everyday mentality to do more, be more, dream more. From here on out, every time you see LeBron I want you to know you are just as amazing as him. You have every opportunity to Live Your List…start living it today!
