The Fun Theory

The fine people at Volkswagen are on to something…it is called the fun theory. They believe that something as simple as fun can be used to completely change someone’s behavior. The Fun Theory says that people will change for fun “be it for yourself, for the environment, or for something entirely different, the only thing that matters is that it’s change for the better.” This is a simple theory, right? It ties in perfectly with experiential learning, or learning by doing, which is tons of fun!

These are the videos of the top ideas in action…

Piano Stairs
Will people be more likely to take the stairs instead of the escalator if it is fun to climb the stairs???

World’s Deepest Trash Can
If a trash bin made sound effects when trash was thrown in it, would people be more likely to throw things away?

Bottle Bank Arcade
Recycling is way more fun if you make a game out of it…

Speed Limit Lottery
Will people slow down and drive the speed limit if driving the speed limit entered you into a lottery?

I encourage each of you to add some “fun” into your life. Mix things up, try some new things, energize your “everyday routine.” Life should be fun – you, your friends, your family, and everyone involved will be better off because of it!
